Build The Stickley No. 802 Sideboard, I Don't Have Room For It

Of the many classic projects we printed in our 16 issues of Woodworking Magazine, this Stickley sideboard (No. The 802 by Christopher Schwarz, (from the Summer 2009 edition), is my favourite*. I like the clean lines and the subtly tapered legs, as well as the shelf below for extra storage or display. The ring pulls are cool.

This is what I would like to do, but there isn’t enough space unless I get rid off something. Nearly all of the furniture in my home is made by me, either pieces I inherited from my grandparents or antiques my mom gave me. I would not be able to part with any of them. I still have my crib, and it remains intact.) My kitchen table, which I bought at an antiques shop about 15 years ago, my nice grown-ups couch (which I just purchased last year), and my chaise lounge (which is leopard print; what was I thinking?) are the exceptions. but is really comfortable; its my favorite place to curl up with a good book.

On the third floor, I have a bonus area. I call it “the room where things go mad” and it is where I keep all the items that aren’t going to be used again.

But none of the items Id be willing to move up there to make room for more will fit up the the staircase to the third floor. So I have to decide with what Im willing to part if I am or simply start making things for others.

Maybe you should instead make it. You can find the file here.

*Or maybe its my second favorite it depends on the day. The Enfield Shaker Cabinet, which I featured in our Spring 2006 issue, is also a favorite of mine. The piece, along with many other Arts & Crafts, Shaker, and period classics, can be found on our CD of all 16 Woodworking Magazine Issues (on which you’ll also find instructions on the tools, techniques, and finishes we used to make the pieces).
